Darragh - What Don't People Like About Modern Day News?

 Modern Day news is filled with inaccurate stories with different perspectives on each article based on who you are reading from. This is because of the various different news sources having different political opinions. 

No matter which political side is writing these articles, each side has evidence of bias within their articles.

According to Bia Bell, a journalist in New York, the credibility of modern day news is at an all time low. People do not know who to believe and often find themselves turning the news off or scrolling past these articles. Bia states that only just a couple of years ago journalists had a much better reputation as they had strict rules on what they published. 

Nowadays, it seems like these news sources value the amount of clicks on their articles more than providing good news. 

Modern day media is a big factor in why these news sources are writing inaccurate articles because something that provides the wrong information can go viral so quickly on social media and these news sources feel the need to report on viral things before the competitors in order to be seen first and get the most views. It almost seems like a popularity contest between the news sources rather than quality news.

According to a survey done in the United States in 2022, 50% of "Gen Z" population use social media strictly as their "news" source. As we all know, social media is plastered with fake news.
